Young Russian Artists: The Rite of Spring
26 APRIL 2021 - 17 MAY 2021, Ended 08:06 PM (UK time)Young Russian Artists (YRA) presents its inaugural event, The Rite of Spring – an online timed auction of 66 works by 41 of Russia’s most exciting emerging artists.
Inspired by Igor Stravinsky’s iconic ballet, each work celebrates themes linked to revolution and the advent of spring such as new life, Pagan rituals, and nature in flux. Ranging from abstract paintings of dreamscapes to photographs of Russia’s freezing Sakha Republic, and ceramics to pop art appliques, these works demonstrate the skill and diversity of the country’s young contemporary artists. They also shed light on a creative side to Russia too often overshadowed by today’s news.
A selection of works has been provided by artists from Moscow’s HSE Art and Design School.
