Women in Art - Raising the Bar
15 FEBRUARY 2022 - 08 MARCH 2022Notes
Battle Lines is part of an ongoing series that celebrates a generation of retirees and their hobbies. It pays homage to the idea that age is not a deterrent to living fully but rather a venture for exploration conveying a sense of liberation where an adolescents playfulness and freedom to dream, complements the wisdom of age. Rendered in oil paint, Linda's love of dress up and wild swimming alongside John's passion for boxing is encompassed by their love of the outdoors and their beloved Mendips. They are standing on the precipice of their next revelation. I finished this painting just before the pandemic after which it took on a whole new meaning as they stood ready to fight their battle ahead.
Predominantly a portrait Artist, Caroline enjoys combining her more analytical approach to the human form with a contemporary illustrative quality to the silhouette and composition.
