The Summer Auction 2019
EndedAn auction of artworks direct from the artists of today
As part of its seasonal series of affordable art auctions, The Auction Collective presented a group show and auction of 48 artworks handpicked from a variety of exciting artists working today. Starting bids ranged from £90 to £2,800.
The auction opened with a dramatic start as four absentee bidders competed against the room for Lot 1, Nicola Morland's beautiful pen and ink drawing, sending the final result bouncing over the high estimate.
This energetic beginning set the tone for the auction with a record number of absentee and telephone bids coming from Singapore, Germany and across the UK, all battling it out against the bidders in the room.
At the final fall of the gavel, 69% of the artworks had sold and gone to new homes - 82% of which were new to The Auction Collective.
As ever, both the exhibition and auction were open for all to enjoy and, to make buying art more affordable, there was no buyer's commission.
