Notes
Using a sewing machine to rapidly 'draw' figures onto cloth, Tina Crawford is a free-embroidery artist based in Deptford, South-East London.
"The sewing machine makes me come alive; the fluidity, the speed, the risk – it's an incredible instrument that I found by chance to keep me sane and is now an extension of my hands. I work using a number of materials from paper to food packaging; free embroidery is a wonderful medium”
"Skeletal pieces work so well with embroidery, because stitching is like the skeletal of clothes but I love the idea of stitching animal skeletons as the initial reaction is 'is it a dinosaur?'... I deliberately don’t embroider dinosaurs – this particular work is a cute rabbit."
