Notes
This photograph was taken with a Poloroid Camera. It was then coloured blue and enlarged in the artist's studio to make the final image.
Blue#4 is a continuation James Tarry's Mind State Project - a series that explores his mental health using photographic techniques and the metaphor of nature.
In James Tarry's photograph we find ourselves walking tentatively through a crowded forest, perhaps at dusk. The deep blue filter draws a veil across the forest compounding a sense of mystery or unease. The strong verticals of the trees are intersected with leaf-dappled branches and there is a hint of a path leading through the tangle of foliage.
The blue tones address the artist's anxiety while the wild nature represents the overcrowding of his mind.
