Notes
This surreal underwater photograph was created by placing a red filter on the surface of the water.
Claudia Legge is a master of underwater photography whose use of props and in situ filters during photo-shoots allows her to create serene and award winning images. Apsu 2 is a perfect example of her ability to do this with out any digitally retouching. By applying the filter to the surface of the water, she has bathed her subject in an intense red light that contrasts against the natural azure, and in doing so gives the final image an other-wordly feel.
Claudia's ethereal underwater work captures dream like moments. In the artist's words, "The light is different there, it dapples and ripples. There are elements you can't control, and the models can express their bodies free from gravity. The force of water is captivating. People can get hypnotised watching waves in the ocean. No wave is ever the same, and the scale and grandeur of the ocean scares us and fascinates us."
