Notes
Ezra Bailey's work is about strength and fragility and the closeness of their relationship.
The form of the eggshell is one of natures wonders; at certain angles it is near impossible to crush, whilst at others it can crack at the lightest touch. Ezra lavishly guilds the inside of the eggshell to make precious the cracks and fragmentation of the object.
The guilt reflects the light around the object and illuminating it from within. Piercing the egg shell allows light to flood in and to pass through this object highlighting the delicate qualities and the beauty of the material itself.
The eggshell is sculpted in carrara marble, a prestigious stone used for centuries to create exquisite marble statues.
