Notes

Matt Jukes reduces the landscape to its simplest forms leaving a cool, atmospheric recollection of a scene.

Working predominantly with monoprint up until now, the artist is exploring the possibilities of building multiple layers of carefully blended paint on canvas.

Matt describes his work as, "misremembered landscapes and nearly forgotten memories". Appearing at times dreamlike, his choice of colour palette drives the emotional sense within the work from the warm and fiery hues of orange and red to the quieter, calmer tones of blue and white, as in Cool of the Evening.
