Notes
Study for Birdman combines two imaginary viewpoints of a rural landscape. The piece is an experiment in portraying both aerial and ‘bird’s eye’ views of the same place, side-by- side on one canvas. “I was interested in whether it was possible to achieve the sense of two simultaneous events on a two-dimensional surface. I was thinking about some of the themes presented in the film ‘Birdman’ directed by Inarritu in 2014.”
Roisin's paintings deal with the experience of navigating the urban and rural landscape. As a painter, Roisin enjoys the problem of using two dimensions to convey an experience of time and space in the physical world. “I am full of wonder for the sophistication of human movement and am intrigued by the complexities of spatial perception.”
