Notes

Bold and assertive, Howard Hodgkin’s dynamic artworks are fiercely energetic. Known for his abstract paintings and prints, Hodgkin is one of Great Britain’s most beloved artists. He created Ice specially for Team GB for the Olympic Winter 2014 Games in Sochi, Russia.

Counter Editions says: “Just as an Olympic athlete’s physical performance appears effortless and graceful after countless hours of training and preparation, Hodgkin’s seemingly spontaneous artworks are the result of almost 60 years of dedicated work. Ice is explosive but concentrated, an expression of physical prowess and intensity.”
