Terrence Higgins Trust - 2022, Timed Auction

California based artist Blair Martin Cahill studied at California Institute of Arts and Chelsea College of Arts. Blair‘s work explores the boundaries of sculpture, tradition and technology, and often juxtaposes modern and dissimilar materials, such as steel and silk. Her work can be found in private and public collections worldwide. 

Three Guys depicts the close interaction of three different young men. What unites them is unclear, but they are drawn together, not only by their body language but by the actual physical threads that draw them closer. 

Cahill says: ‘The piece deifies the usual conventions by portraying young strong men with fine needlework, an art form usually reserved for more delicate uses. The highly reflective sports material that it is embroidered on echoes their fashion sense and love of physical activity.’
