Studio Sale | Heath Kane
17 JANUARY 2022 - 11 FEBRUARY 2022Notes
Portrait of Heroes is a collection by best selling artist Heath Kane. It's inspired by master painted portraits, and show how classical art was often a means for wealthy individuals to portray their ultra ego. It playfully suggests that the classical portrait artist was the photoshop and Instagram filter of their time.
Today we all have the ability to take selfies and live our lives through social media. But how much of what we share is real and how much are we all trying to heroise our lives?”
Heath Kane is an Australian artist, based in the UK. Heath is synonymous with creating bold, striking, often lurid art. He embeds subtle, subversive themes that encourage a political or social conversation. Heath’s approach to art has always been driven by the practice of design thinking: combining his experience in commercial art with the origins of pop-art. He focuses on creating simple, iconic and memorable pieces.
Heath has collaborated with Wired Magazine and Saatchi Art, and has partnered with Penguin Books to create the last published covers of George Orwell’s most famous books. Heath exhibits his work in solo shows all around the globe, and his originals and prints frequently appear in leading galleries worldwide.
