Notes
“This piece was made in response to All Mouth Galleries open call for minuscule works. In response to my temporary home studio, I had naturally been down scaling my work due to space limitations, so it was a great challenge to push that further. The tiny figures in the painting were inspired by a story I had recently read, 26a by Diana Evans. The text reminisces of the memories of childhood and the warmth of summer time beautifully.” - Isabel Garfield, 2021
In my work I am looking at the ways in which memory and dream's function and connect to our everyday lived experiences. I am interested in what constitutes a real, waking space and how this can be a weave of both reality and fiction. I work with a combination of paintings and made structures, which in turn form installations. The paintings I create build environments which merge colour, pattern, objects and the remembered frames and shadows of interiors. - Isabel Garfield, 2021
