Notes
Nell Brookfield investigates the emotional and physical spaces between people that are present in both intimate or tense moments; and the feelings of alienation this provokes. Painting with acrylic and oil paint onto canvas and paper, intense colours and patterning accentuate the charged moments between the figures, serving as tools to either mask, or reveal, human instincts of desire, frustration and rejection.
Brookfield is a London-based artist who graduated from the Royal Drawing School's Drawing Year Programme in 2018, previous to this Brookfield received her BSc in Anthropology at UCL. She has recently spent a year studying at the Pratt Institute in New York City. Brookfield has exhibited at September Gallery, The Willis Museum, Eve Leibe Gallery, Matchett & Page Gallery, Christies, Protein Studios, and RISD.
