Notes
Lagoon is an aerial photograph taken from Tommy Clarke’s 2016 series of the world heritage site, Shark Bay, in Western Australia.
Tommy grew up on the south coast of England where he spent nearly every childhood holiday by the beach. This sparked a deep interest of the interaction between water and land and how people connect with that location.
It was inevitable then that the rich marine life of Shark Bay attracted the artist and, with years of experience, he knew it would make the perfect subject for his high-resolution photography.
Eventually, after a week of all flights being grounded due to a typhoon, the artist was able to fulfil his ambition and took to the skies. Hanging out of the plane, Tommy captured these beautiful, almost abstract, images of the bay.
Tommy has achieved huge success in recent years with features in Conde Nast’s Traveller, The British Journal of Photography, The Times, The Telegraph, BBC and most recently has completed a wonderful collaboration with M&S.
