Rebuilding Beirut with Pride (8/31)

Notes

Euphrosyne works predominately with installation and print based processes. She adopts industrial fabrication methods that embrace the multiple and its relationship to contemporary culture, alongside traditional craft based techniques. Her work places importance on our interaction with spaces, presenting a constant and overlapping aesthetic that draws upon the familiarity of the domestic and the material qualities of the third space - a public space separate to the home or workplace. Andrews’ work is both site specific in response to a particular space or context, or exists as samplers, linking to a wider context of the sampler within textile history, but also within the context of print and industrial production. A sustained research practice explores archetypal public space, from cafes, pubs and town halls, alongside the history of decorative arts in relation to politics, architecture and social behaviours.

Euphrosyne Andrews is an artist currently living and working in London. She studied Fine Art at Glasgow School of Art, and postgraduate drawing at the Royal Drawing School. Recent / upcoming exhibitions include Drawn Close, Permanent Public Sculpture at KARST Gallery, Plymouth (Upcoming), Plumbing Wine, London (Upcoming), ‘All Things Hang Like a Drop of Dew’, Plymouth Art Weekender 2020, Public Notice: An Exhibition, Curated by Emerging Fields 2020, GIFC Worldwide, Idle Thoughts, Soho Revue.
