Named as ‘one of ten best’ at the 2018 Royal Academy Summer Exhibition by Artlyst, Europe Running Through My Veins ll is a needlework iPhone screenshot of a protester holding a ‘Brexshit’ placard.

The piece has received much publicity, notably highlighted as a key piece by Grayson Perry in the BBC 2 documentary on the 250th RA Summer Exhibition as well as being referred to in reviews in The Sunday Times and The Observer. The primary edition of the piece was sold during the private view evening, prior to the exhibition officially opening.

Tisna Westerhof is a London-based artist, working across a range of media. Born in the Netherlands in 1975, Tisna studied Printmaking at the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague and has an MA in Scenography from Central St Martins, London. She is co-founder and director of hARTslane (2012), an experimental art project space in South London and in 2013 she was elected a member of The London Group (1913).

Tisna’s work is currently being exhibited in ‘Drawing Distinctions’ at The Furlong Gallery, Wisconsin, USA and ‘Empire ll’ at Le 100 ECS in Paris, as part of FIAC 2018. Recent exhibitions include 250th Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, ‘Empire ll’ at The 57th Venice Biennale, Deptford X festival London and Tamsyn Challenger’s 400 Women. Prizes include the Royal Dutch Printmaking Award and Siemens Art Award. Tisna has exhibited widely both nationally and internationally and has received prizes for her work including the Royal Dutch Printmaking Award and Siemens Art Award. She has undertaken numerous commissions and has work in private and public collections in The Netherlands, France, Germany, Italy, UK and the USA.
