More Heed - Timed Auction

Gommie's practice depends on walking vast lengths of the UK, writing and painting poems on maps, based on the amazing things people from different (often forgotten) communities say to him. He navigates an area with an OS map which, economically, becomes his canvas, and he uses whatever paint, ink, mud or texture is to hand to create each piece. The result is a picture bursting with life and colour reporting from the coalface on one of the most difficult times in recent history. Gommie won “Best Artist” at The Other Art Fair 2019, winning a mentorship with Kate Bryan. His work is included in The Soho House Collection and was exhibited at Messums Gallery in January, which made The Metro and The Oxford Times.

Gommie was born In Oxfordshire, UK, 1985. He worked as an actor until 2017 before moving into visual art and performance. 
He currently lives and works all over the UK, travel being essential to his practice.
