Notes

This artwork is about the Jewish tradition of Kaparot, an atonement ritual involving a chicken. It sits in a wider body of work utilising the imagery of birds.

-based artist David Hochhauser (b. 1996) works primarily as a sculptor, using multiple different materials and approaches in his work. Having completed a Geography degree at King’s College London, he went on to study sculpture at City & Guilds London Art School, specialising in bronze work. He currently works as a practising studio artist and is studying an MSc in Anthropology. His work concerns itself with themes of diaspora, Jewish identity and iconography, (im)permanence, uncertainty and deconstructions of the figure.
