Ekaterina Adelskaya (b. Moscow, 1988) is a London based artist working on abstract sculptures and watercolours, mostly revolving around materiality and transformative processes, using both organic and synthetic materials.
Recently Adelskaya’s work 'Letting Go' has won the 2nd Watercolour Prize at the Royal West of England Academy's 168th Annual Exhibition in Bristol. Another work 'Heavy Breathing' is on display at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition 2020 in London.
Also, Ekaterina exhibited in Russia and Asia, amongst them the Moscow Biennale of Contemporary Art 2019, and the CICA Museum in South Korea, where her work ’Blurring' (2017) has been acquired as part of the CICA Museum’s permanent collection.
"I’ve always considered my artistic practice closer to alchemy. Through non-traditional methods of art-making, such as burning, melting or dissolving, I explore materials’ potentiality and their physical properties. The change of state fascinates me. Matter transformation is part of our existence, it’s life itself. — We adapt, thrive and decay in a constant flow of change."
