Notes
Born in England, 1995, Artist Georgia Grinter studied Fine Art: Painting and Printmaking at The Glasgow School of Art 2015-18. Since then she has taken part in group exhibitions including Warbling Collective’s ‘Ghosts That Live Amongst Us’ 115A Gallery and Delphian Gallery’s 2020 Open Call.
In 2019 she took part in residency PADA in Portugal, introducing herself from the necessary immediacy of drawing, to its imposition with paint.
“I explore the parallels between chaos in fast paced consumerist society next to the repetitive fleet in nature. Both rhythms are juxtaposed with entirely contrasting beats; one dressed in the artificial and one evolving an organic pattern. Humans conquer the outdoors like a refusal of senses or feeling. I like to play with shadows and animal narratives to question our connection with our natural state and refusal of its intuition. Using the structure of interaction with mono printing, painting and drawing, I try to explore this ebb and flow of grappling with rules around gender, race and climate change, to capture the chaos of 'feeling' inside a constantly evolving humanity. We face a war with ourselves and nature, as we continually fence it and our emotions into little pill boxes that we can diagnose and cure. But nature won’t be cured, if we don’t acknowledge its own raging imbalance that we imposed.” - Georgia Grinter, 2020
