Life on Venus III | The Organic, Timed Auction
08 FEBRUARY 2021 - 26 FEBRUARY 2021Notes
Alice Suret-Canale (she/her), born in 1986, is a french painter based in Paris. After a master's degree in ancient Greek, she became interested in animation, co-directed five short animation films awarded in several international festivals, and defended in 2018 her PHD thesis in digital art. Since then, she is fully dedicated to painting.
Through her "Compressions" series, she focuses on the figure, the body and its relationship to intimacy. The underlying subject, largely autobiographical, is that of gestation; maternal gestation ‒pregnancy and the revolutions it generates in the body of the future mother and in the intimacy of the couple‒ is linked to pictorial gestation, movements and transformations of the painted space, patterns and figures.
