“I delivered wooden cases, one by one over several months, each case contained a diptych painting, two made one, each painting embodying a neologism of poet Paul Celan’s : Atemwende - breathturn, Absageweisse - denialwhite, stillgeworden - becomingsilent etc. Andrew Renton then spent time with these paintings and formed the most sensitive fragments of text, a central paragraph and an aside commentary, an afterthought... Meanwhile I made two etchings, two plate copper aquatints, Atemwende (breathturn) and Shwarzblaue (blueblack). This is the first of those aquatints.” - Jane Bustin, 2021
