Alex McIntyre creates abstract landscapes using ink and gesso on marine ply. The journey of each painting starts with walking, running, observational drawings and ‘fast’ photography. She says, “I want to capture the sensory root of an experience so that a viewer is able to recognise their personal visceral understanding of the landscape and be reconnected with it”. Alex’s paintings invite you to pause, contemplate and breathe.

‘Liquid Light III’, is the third in a series of works contemplating qualities of sunlight and atmospheric water. The emphasis in this piece is on the sky with a minimal band of land. It is as though the viewer is high up on a hill top looking into the distance. The inspiration for this painting comes from a sense of light and landscape experienced during long walks in Cornwall.
