Notes

Escapism in its true form, Matt Jukes’ monoprints leave the viewer to absorb the image, reflect the work’s serenity and read their own interpretations. Initially created as an antidote to a hectic London lifestyle, the artist used this series to visually escape back to his halcyon days in Australia where he spent his formative years.

Gently printing different skylines on top of each other, Matt softly builds the landscape into a beautiful scene rich with elegance and depth. The fading shades of blue are reminiscent of a fading light or early morning view - that peaceful moment of abstraction that the artist captures here so perfectly.

We sat down with Matt to hear more about monoprints and dig a bit deeper into his escapism mindset. You can read the full interview here
