Notes

Matthew Lindop has an undeniable passion for architecture, buildings and structure and the artist confesses “their overall size and design can be both awesome and humbling.”

The majority of Matthew’s cityscapes come from London, the artist’s home and source of greatest inspiration (as seen in Lot 11). Using household gloss paints, the artist is able to create sharp edges and flat planes of colour in his images that reflect the defined city skylines. Here in ‘30 St Mary Axe’, also known as the Gherkin, the artist uses the clear flat colour structures of the building to emphasise the natural organic beauty of the street grown cheery blossom. A stunning comparison of nature’s resistance against man’s mark on the landscape.
Matthew has undertaken commissions for The National Health Service, British Telecom, British Airways, Esquire Magazine and Kwik Fit. The Professional Footballers’ Association and Transport for London have also purchased his work. He has exhibited throughout London, Europe and North America.
