Courtney Love x Parliament Tattoo Charity Auction
30 SEPTEMBER 2021 - 25 OCTOBER 2021Notes
Lydia Morrow is a textile artist and designer making work around the intersections of neurodivergence, disability and gender. She draws on poetry and superstition - playing with embodiment and communication through garments both on and off the body. In her work, the act of wearing sits parallel to performance where both the garment and the wearer are active participants.
Inspired by the song Teenage Whore, Lydia wanted to create a piece that exemplified the tension created when women are more than the space they are given, when they want more than they are offered, and are expected to be more than they can give. In questioning the viewer, ‘why do you want more’ becomes a challenge rather than a chastisement, the bold scarlet lettering on white evokes a protest while the translucent fabric acknowledges the vulnerability of making such a bold statement. The piece can be hung from a board, or worn. It is designed to fit any size up to uk size 20.
