'When I work I feel like an observer stumbling on a scene, like a wildlife photographer. Although I begin with a plan, when the characters appear, they take over. I began my career as a painter in 1986, working on semi-abstract pieces, but over the years, the lives of humans and those of the natural world, have captured my imagination. I have exhibited widely in galleries around the UK and abroad, and have written and illustrated a children’s picture book, The Lemur’s Tale, nominated for the 2014 Kate Greenaway Prize, and a coffee table book, An ABC of Cambridge Professors.  I won Sky Arts “Landscape Artist of the Year 2021”.'
