Art on a Postcard Winter Auction, Lots 301-400
04 NOVEMBER 2021 - 25 NOVEMBER 2021Notes
About
Laurence de Valmy invites us to reflect on the links between artists through times and the relationship between Art and social media today.
In her POST paintings, she revisits Art History through anachronic Instagram of the past. She combines iconic artworks skillfully appropriated with imagined conversations, historically accurate yet humorous. By telling the stories behind these artworks, the artist leads us to consider them with a new eye.
Her recent work #Hashtagsareart explores the place of Hashtags in our communication. It is said that an image can replace thousands of words. Hashtags link millions of images.
Laurence de Valmy is French American and lives in California, USA. Her work is represented by galleries based in New York, London and France. She is a member of Artcan.org

Statement about AOAP Submitted Artwork
My work aims to highlight the links between artists and how Art is a continuum. In this series of 4 postards I featured the stories of Yves Klein and Ellsworth Kelly and how their work inspired me to create my #hashtagsareArt postcards.
PLEASE DO NOT BID ON ARTWORK IN OUR ART ON A POSTCARD AUCTIONS IF YOU INTEND ON SELLING THE ARTWORK AFTER YOU HAVE PURCHASED IT. THIS AUCTION HAS BEEN ORGANISED FOR CHARITY AND ALL ARTWORKS HAVE BEEN GENEROUSLY DONATED BY THE ARTISTS TO RAISE MONEY FOR THE HEPATITIS C TRUST. WHEN THE WORK PRODUCED FOR THE CHARITY IS SOLD ON THE SECONDARY MARKET IT DAMAGES OUR RELATIONSHIP WITH THE ARTIST AND PREVENTS US FROM FUNDRAISING.
