Statement about AOAP Submitted Artwork
I don’t think this is the technical word for it, but they are squish paintings. At least that’s what I referred to them as a kid. You roughly paint on one side of the paper and fold it perfectly down the middle, making a mirror image of the original marks you made. I chose to present parts of the human body, as most organs in the body are perfectly symmetrical. It’s called bilateral symmetrical and most things within nature have this, in order to keep a level of balance and unity in the world.
You also have to work quickly to make these, so that the paint doesn’t dry before you can squish. You only really get one shot to get it right. I always enjoy having boundaries like this in my making.
PLEASE DO NOT BID ON ARTWORK IN OUR ART ON A POSTCARD AUCTIONS IF YOU INTEND ON SELLING THE ARTWORK AFTER YOU HAVE PURCHASED IT. THIS AUCTION HAS BEEN ORGANISED FOR CHARITY AND ALL ARTWORKS HAVE BEEN GENEROUSLY DONATED BY THE ARTISTS TO RAISE MONEY FOR THE HEPATITIS C TRUST. WHEN THE WORK PRODUCED FOR THE CHARITY IS SOLD ON THE SECONDARY MARKET IT DAMAGES OUR RELATIONSHIP WITH THE ARTIST AND PREVENTS US FROM FUNDRAISING.
