Art on a Postcard Winter Auction, Lots 201-300
04 NOVEMBER 2021 - 25 NOVEMBER 2021Notes
About
Deborah Buck has been a painter all of her life. She has been exhibiting her work in New York and New England for over 30 years. She creates worlds for herself that are surreal and humorous, using a vigorous and vibrant approach to texture, color and strong drawing. She is interested in the low and the high within cultures and is a restless spirit constantly exploring and pushing boundaries.
Deborah’s recent works on paper reveal her fluid use of ink and mixed media. She continues to explore the interplay of surrealism and abstraction where she long held interests in absurdity, romanticism, and the darker side of fairy tales lend a strong narrative to her practice.

Statement about AOAP Submitted Artwork
My work is large in scope and very layered, the finished piece being a sum of its destructions. I decided that the size of the postcard limited the ability to find the landscape and figures through arduous working on the surface so I instead used completed large pieces and rendered them again in the small size. I loved the process and of course they are not copies but instead, but further renditions of already realized images.
