Notes

About

Tyga is a painter and printmaker with drawing lying at the heart of her practice. She uses the directness and urgency of drawing from life as a springboard for all her work. She explores the feeling of being overwhelmed through her drawing, finding her subjects in movement and in the sublime. She couples the spontaneity of the moment with returning to places again and again, allowing memory and imagination to permeate.

Education

Fine art at the University of Edinburgh, Drawing Year at the Royal Drawing School

Select Exhibitions/Awards

She has been granted artist residencies at Dumfries House in Ayrshire and Borgo Pignano In Italy. She was the artist in residence at Sevenoaks School and has completed a teaching residency at the International Institute of Fine Arts, Modinigar in India. She has exhibited widely since graduating, including at the Fleming Collection in London and at Christies in New York. She lives and works in the UK.

Statement about AOAP Submitted Artwork

The drawing is made with chalk pastel, remembering swooping gannets over the Irish Sea. I love the speed of their flight over the mass of jewel waters.
