25 MAY 2023 - 08 JUNE 2023Notes
About
Alfie Rouy (b. 1998, Kent, England) explores subtle ways of materialising the flow of versatile, fluid-like energies, frequencies and vibrations that intertwine the mind with the Earth’s current phase of existence. Alongside this, within the work, there is a coherent narrative that points towards the evolution of the soul and the oneness of all.

Statement about AOAP Submitted Artwork
Influenced by Hilma Af Klint’s spiritual work with De Fem in the early 1900s, Rouy has broadened his practice with an exploration into automatic drawing. Created by following intuition, suppressing conscious control and calling upon outside influences to determine the outcome, the drawings intend to manifest a spiritual impression of whatever is being obtained in that given moment of creation. The automatic drawings are a more literal depiction of what Rouy’s figurative paintings are elusively trying to convey.
