Statement about AOAP Submitted Artworks
The two original artworks I created on the postcards were inspired by two previous pieces I have made. The first, 'The Creative Eye', I painted in reference to a piece I made for my MA collection - a digitally-printed latex trench coat, adorned with eyes, emulating a wearable second skin with an uncomfortable gaze to question ideas of beauty and how clothes are used to represent that. The second postcard, 'Leeches on Peaches' is a miniature version of one of my most successful paintings/ prints. The idea, again, is to play with the ideas of beauty and how that is juxtaposed with disgust- for the beholder to see the luscious fruit before realising the glints of the gold, highlighting the leeches upon it.
