About

Yasmin Hayat (b.1990) is a British-Syrian artist who studied painting at Central Saint Martins before specialising in the arts of the SWANA region at the Prince's Foundation School of Traditional Arts. Inspired by her Syrian heritage, Yasmin has developed a language of painting which is derived from an old Arabic style and incorporates contemporary Western and Indo-Persian techniques. Statement about AOAP Submitted Artwork

What is it to be lost at sea? The Sea Sea? A metaphorical sea? Sea is bigger than us. Will we ever emerge from this? The sea? There is light within this sea. Waters murky. I see it. A trick, a promise. A grin. A glint. And what now Sea? You… The Sea Sea. You…  The metaphorical Sea. Is that …hope that I see?

This series of Persian inspired miniatures are painted using handmade paints derived from carmine and the indigo plant. Gold and palladium accents highlight the moon, sun and stars within each piece.

Each painting explores the relationships between opposites. They are metaphors for the journeys we take when we have nothing but hope and fear packaged tightly into frayed bags. For those of us who plunge into darkness, paving the path forward. Frightened rabbits with brave souls and nothing else to lose.

You must not reproduce, duplicate, copy, sell, resell or exploit any works. In doing so, you endanger our relationships with artists, and directly jeopardise the charitable work we do. Anyone found doing so will be subject to legal action.
