‘Working on “Snowed Silence” was very freeing as I began with no agenda, just letting the marks and shapes guide me to the end result.’ – Jule-Anne Simpson
Julie-Ann Simpson’s work looks into the porous boundaries between interior and exterior spaces, dreams and reality. Her paintings sit in a transitional place, often beginning as representations and eventually slipping into ambiguous afterimages. Simpson’s latest body of work considers our interrelationship with the natural world by bringing together ideas of the imagination, ritual, memory, longing and pleasure.
Julie-Ann Simpson graduated with a BA from Gray’s School of Art, Robert Gordon University Aberdeen in 2012. Simpson’s works were recently exhibited at a Saatchi Gallery show curated by Delphian Gallery. In 2021, Simpson’s works were part of a number of group exhibitions at Purslane, Eve Leibe Gallery and Huxley-Parlour Gallery.
