Art for Ukraine
01 APRIL 2022 - 25 APRIL 2022Notes
Exploring Time is a series of paintings made in response to Miranda Boulton’s recollection of Dutch 17th Century flower paintings. The series is a classic example of Boulton’s distinctive contemporary painting style, where past and present collide to form an exciting visual language. Art historical images are translated into a contemporary pictorial composition, linked through expressive colour, gesture and form.
Although she begins by painting from memory, Boulton allows intuition and spontaneity to take over from linear rational thinking and the work writes its own narrative through the layers of intricate brushwork.
Miranda Boulton was the winner of The Jackson’s Painting Prize in 2021. Select exhibitions: two-person show ‘Double Time’ at Arthouse1, London, 2019, ING Discerning Eye, 2021, Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, 2019/2016 and The Creekside Open, 2019. Boulton’s work has been acquired by international private collections nn the UK, France, USA, Canada, Netherlands and New Zealand.
