Art Auction - Arms Around the Child

David Paul Kay will be coming to London from New York for an artist residency at The Mandrake Hotel. He will paint a bespoke canvas for the Arms Around The Child charity auction beginning the process at The Mandrake Hotel and finishing the piece on the night of the auction at Christie’s. 

The art piece will take the shape of a heart on a large canvas approx. 2 x 2 metres square. Pictured here is a mock-up of how the piece would look.

David is an American Artist from NYC. He draws on paper free-hand and is completing a large heart drawing LIVE during Christie’s evening event.

David worked at a school in Guinea, he explains 'I painted a piece together with children from a local orphanage. I conceptualized it around their national identity. I gave them three colors, red, green, and yellow, the colors of their flag, something they see every day and can relate to but I told them to paint the intricate mural using their imagination. How can these colors co-exist without overlapping? That was the idea, we are all different but when we come together in harmony, beautiful things happen. It was great to see their imagination and vision explode through my work. ‘
