Notes
Lisa Wilkens uses drawing as a way to validate and process information from photographic reproductions, printed matter and books. Wilkens works with brush and Chinese ink, developing small-scale images aesthetically oscillating between mechanical and manual reproductions, demanding attention and time in both their production and reception. Wilkens draws on paper sourced from family connections in the former German Democratic Republic.
Wilkens' work was selected for Bloomberg New Contemporaries and has she held a temporary residence at Kettle’s Yard, Cambridge. This work was also included in the Paper exhibition curated by Saatchi Gallery in 2013.
Lisa Wilkens holds an MA in Visual Arts / Printmaking from Camberwell College, University of the Arts London, UK and has lectured at The Royal Academy of Fine Arts, Ghent, City & Guilds of London Art School, London and Cambridge School of Art, Cambridge.
