Notes

Sara Barker holds a Painting BA in Fine Art from Glasgow School of Art the city in which she lives and works today. She said of her work in an article with The Guardian: "I like to stretch materials to their most poignant state where they can’t stand any longer and take on a kind of humanness.” Her works are structures made of metal, paint, brass and glass that defy definition. Are they sculpture, painting or do they hover somewhere in between?

Barker's solo shows include The faces of older images at Mary Mary, Glasgow in 2017,
A weak spot in the earth, The Approach, London also in 2017. The Ikon Gallery, Birmingham
and Fruitmarket Gallery in Edinburgh, UK. She has had outdoor commissions at CASS Sculpture Foundation, West Sussex, UK and Jupiter Artland, Edinburgh, UK.

This work was included in Saatchi Gallery's Known Unknowns and New Order: British Art of Today (2013-2014) exhibitions as well as the Mary Mary Gallery's Sara Baker show in 2012.
