Studio Sale 2023 | Lorna Sinclair

Merging abstraction with realism, inside spaces with imagined dreamscapes, Lorna invites the viewer to enter a world that explores the life-infusing force of colour.

‘Skinny Koi’ is a painting that was made using sketches from regular visits to the Glasgow Botanical Gardens, which captures the movement and mesmerizing colours of a lively pond, full of koi and vegetation. Strong, flowing lines made using creamy oil sticks have been used to create movement within the water, with tones of yellow and pearly whites painted to suggest reflections of the beautiful glasshouse above.
