Gavin Maughfling is a painter and filmmaker. He trained at the Ruskin School of Fine Art in Oxford and the University of East London. 

He has exhibited internationally, including Lounge Gallery, London, the Mostyn Biennial, MOMA Oxford, the Galerie Van Der Planken, Antwerp, the ICA, London, the Carroussel du Louvre, Paris and the Elzenveld Foundation, Antwerp. 

Recent exhibitions include 'X', Newcastle Contemporary Art 2023,  Moca London's Web Exhibition Programme 2023; 'Figure and Ground', Bermondsey Project Space 2022; the Beep Painting Biennial 2022; 'The Heart is a Lonely Hunter,' no format Gallery 2021, 'between parts undone', studio1.1 Gallery, London 2020, Beep Painting Biennial 2020; the Creekside Open, APT Gallery 2019; Artworks, Barbican Arts Project Space 2019; ‘Did You See Me Coming?’ no format Gallery, London 2019; ‘Beyond the Binaries’, the House of St. Barnabas 2018, and ‘Over Time’, University of Greenwich and National Maritime Museum 2014. 

With Suzanne de Emmony he co-founded DEM projects and has curated exhibitions in London and Singapore. Artist residencies include the British Embassy Luxembourg, and work in collections includes the National Government Art Collection.
