Notes

A series of six still life photographs composed using objects found in the photographer's home.

The photographer Edd Horder shares his house with the artist Zanny Mellor, his girlfriend. During lockdown Edd and Zanny combined their talents to create still life photographs of sculptures which include Zanny's painted gestures and household items with the resulting object reminiscent of Picasso's Guitar

The chopping board serves as a plinth, an ordinary glass bottle gives structure the sculpture whilst the paper swirls and swoops give life, movement and a painterly quality to the sculptures. With Picasso's Guitar in mind, the works are a contemporary take on the sculptural collage.

Captured in back and white, with some in the series inverted, the photographs are elegant and textural. Ordinary household objects are made both whimsical and expressive with the addition of Zanny's painted gestures, whilst Edd's photographic style lends the sculpture gravitas and finesse

This is a collaboration born out of conditions during lockdown. The ordinary and everyday has been transformed into the extraordinary.

Edd Horder is a London based photographer whose commercial work is predominantly documentary and portraiture.
