Notes
Richard Deacon is a sculptor. He was born in Bangor, Wales, in 1949 and studied at Somerset College of Art (1968–69), St Martin's School of Art (1969–1972) and the Royal College of Art (1974–1977). In the 1980s his work gained international recognition and has been exhibited in museums and galleries worldwide. He has completed many large-scale public commissions. A retrospective of his drawings and prints was held at the Folkwang Museum, Essen, in 2016. He was awarded the Turner Prize in 1987, elected to the Royal Academy in 1998 and to the Akademie der Kunste in Berlin in 2010.
