About
Laura Parker is a self-taught artist and painter based in the London area. Laura is inspired by the natural world - from dramatic underwater views to expansive landscapes. Water in particular (above it, below it, and reflections in it) is a constant inspiration and stimulus to her work. Laura works predominantly in acrylics, while also exploring the use of other materials, and her love of colour adds drama, and brings energy and vitality to her artworks. Experimenting and taking risks are all part of the process of painting that thrills her, as Laura tries to communicate her visual, emotional, and sensory experiences. Can she perhaps reveal the smell, taste, feel and sound of water or wind-blown trees so that the viewer can respond to the artwork almost like uncovering a memory? Laura says “For me, making art is exciting, scary, frustrating, addictive, rewarding, and an utterly indispensable part of my life.” Laura is a member of ArtCan and Richmond Art Society. Laura exhibits regularly, and her work has been published in Art Seen Magazine, while Diver Magazine and Collect Art’s Special Edition ‘Sea in Me’ featured her art practice and underwater paintings.
