50 x £50, 2022
02 NOVEMBER 2022 - 24 NOVEMBER 2022Notes
In Russell’s practice she is working towards a profound sense of creative and meditative relief. In her paintings she is representing moments in time inspired by landscapes or the female form. She plays with abstraction, problem-solving through composition, colour selection and line. Generally working in acrylic paint, Russell is currently exploring alternative media that allows her to play around with the application and materiality of paint.
Her passion for teaching informs her work, drawing inspiration from the diverse approach of her students and guiding each one to creative expression through a process of discovery which plays to their individual skills and interests. Russell appreciates the poignancy of painting as a language that is left up to each artist’s sensibility in how they use it to communicate
