Cherry Aribisala is a Nigerian born and raised artist, currently based in London. Cherry Aribisala’s studio practice currently involves painting, drawing and various forms of printmaking. The artist's is known for her large scale paintings and creations that draw influence from comics books, contemporary figuration and illustrative brush marks inspired by graphic imagery and her love of colour in order to move beyond a grounded sense of reality.

Floral surroundings are an important and constant motif found in Aribisala’s works as whilst it allows for a visually impactful compositions that keeps in the viewer(s) gaze constantly moving, it also allows room for Cherry to manipulate or play with the symbolism of floral and the ways it can interact with the subject(s) in her paintings.

As of now, Cherry's work primarily explores mental health, anxiety, emotional experiences, fragility and the acceptance of oneself through the juxtaposition of contemporary pop aesthetic. In her most recent body of work “IF WORDS WERE FLOWERS” she states; — “The flatness or comic style evokes a disconnect from reality by allowing me to freely translate the world around me into clearly sectioned off outlines or parts.
